Jessica Hammargren intro.

THIRD GENERATION IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS

Rowico Home was founded in Halmstad in 1971 by Roland Hammargren. Today it is his grandchildren Jessica, CEO, and her brother Fredrik, Deputy CEO, the third generation, who run the company.

Jessica lived in Stockholm for several years before she moved to the house in Frösakull outside Halmstad and became CEO of the family business.

“The time was right for me to move home and then I grew into the role as CEO. The fact that I moved to this particular house in Frösakull was really a coincidence. I wanted to be close to the sea as well as friends and family, so when I had the opportunity to buy this villa it was the right time in life,” says Jessica Hammargren.

THINK SUSTAINABLY

Sustainability has been an important part of Rowico Home’s operations since the start in 1971. Part of the work involves developing furniture in FSC-certified wood, which means that the wood comes from responsible forestry. It is also something that Rowico Home’s CEO, Jessica Hammargren, values when she chooses furniture for her own home.

- At my dining area, which is the heart of the home where I spend time with family and friends, I have chosen the EMMETT dining table combined with the PATTERSON chair, both are FSC-certified, says Jessica.

RUNNING A COMPANY

So what does Jessica focus on when she is driving Rowico Home forward?

“That everything should be permeated by Scandinavian design is a given, but what is otherwise important to me is to create a culture and a team of people who have fun together and genuinely like each other. That is what I have spent a lot of time on in recent years. I also invest a lot in health and in making sure everyone feels good,” Jessica explains.

Sustainability is, as mentioned, also important to Jessica and it automatically spills over into everyday life at home, everything from sorting waste to driving a hybrid car. Jessica continues:

“I buy a lot of second-hand and try not to consume unnecessarily. All the small aspects where you can think twice, for example taking the train instead of the plane. And of course also buying furniture that lasts over time.”

MINIMALIST AND TIMELESS INTERIOR STYLE

Jessica has always leaned towards a typically minimalist and Scandinavian style in her home. What she likes best is when it is clean with only a few carefully selected items on display. That is when a sense of calm appears in life.

“My brain is chaos and decisions are often made quickly, so it needs to be tidy around me,” Jessica laughs.

The clothes Jessica chooses are often colourful, but when it comes to interior design she opts for beige, brown and black.

“I wish I were a person who chose more colour in the home, but I feel comfortable with a neutral, earthy base to find harmony. That is why I have often chosen brown furniture in my home, for example the EVERETT display cabinet and SULLIVAN coffee table,” Jessica concludes.
