HOW TO COLOUR COORDINATE

A TWO-ROOM FLAT IN THE CITY

SOFT TONES CREATE CHARACTER

Isabelle Kvist lives in a 1920s flat on Södermalm in Stockholm. She has created a personal home where muted colours give each room its own character, while the overall impression feels harmonious and cohesive.

The interior is largely in wood and natural materials that create a warm and cosy feeling. Isabelle wants the home to feel as if it has evolved over time and not as if everything has been taken from a catalogue, so some items are also second-hand finds that add personality.

I like homes that feel well thought-out but not perfect. What always recurs when I decorate is colour, textiles and a mix of new and old, for example I love the KERWIN chair together with my old dining table. I want the home to feel like a personal moodboard that is allowed to develop at its own pace.

Isabelle has spent a lot of time in her one-bedroom flat testing different shades to achieve an overall impression that feels harmonious and cohesive yet still colourful. She definitely wanted colour, but without creating a circus-like feeling. Isabelle chose muted colours, in the bedroom a light blue that goes nicely both with the WHITMORE bedside table in natural oak and the MELSTONE bench in brown oak, as well as light yellow in the living room, which has created a bright and inviting personality.

What Isabelle has become attached to in her interior design is the combination of timeless design and warmth. She likes furniture that feels stable and genuine, and Rowico Home’s sofa FALKNER has truly laid that foundation in her home. The fact that you can order the footstool JOPLIN in the same fabric as your sofa, or break it off with another fabric as Isabelle has done, also makes her feel it is easy to create a home that feels cosy and vibrant.
