CARE & MAINTENANCE

  • Wood is a living material and is affected by light, temperature, and humidity. To maintain the table's quality and appearance, the following care instructions should be followed:

    • Protect the surface from moisture and spills. Always wipe up liquids immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

    • Always use coasters to avoid ring marks from cups, vases, and other items.

    • Avoid strong sunlight and heat sources. Do not place the furniture near radiators or in direct sunlight, as this can cause cracking.

    • Maintenance with colorless furniture oil. The table should be oiled with colorless furniture oil about 3-4 times per year, depending on usage. Drop a drop of water on the surface to check the protection. If the drop is absorbed, a new oil treatment is needed.

    • Store extension leaves at room temperature. Leaves stored in humid environments can swell or warp. Expose them to sunlight as your table is exposed to sunlight, to minimize color variations.

    • Stain removal: Sanding with fine sandpaper can remove stains, but the entire table should then be oiled for an even result.
  • An oiled piece of furniture may benefit from being oiled with colourless furniture oil before first use. If this applies to your table, you will find information in the accompanying care instructions. During storage and transport, the surface may have dried out, causing the wood to absorb moisture and risk getting stains and cracks. Try performing a drop test when unpacking.

    • The table should be oiled 3-4 times a year or as needed.

    • To test if the table needs oiling, drop a small amount of water on the surface. If the water droplet is absorbed, it's time for a new treatment.

    • Always use coasters for glasses and vases to protect the surface.

    • If a stain occurs, it can be gently sanded away with fine sandpaper before the surface is oiled again.
  • A simple way to check this is by performing a drop test.

    1. Place a drop of water on the table's surface.
    2. Wait for about 1 minute.

If the drop remains = the table is still saturated with oil and does not need a new treatment.

If the drop is absorbed into the wood = the surface is dry and needs to be oiled.

  • Cleaning
Use a well-wrung cloth with only water or Rubio Monocoat Surface Care and always wipe dry with a dry cloth.

    Refresh
To freshen up the surface, treat the table with Rubio Monocoat Refresh Eco about 3–4 times per year.

  • Lacquered tables require less maintenance and cannot be treated with oil.

    • Cleaning: Use a lightly dampened cloth with water or a mild soap solution. Always wipe dry with a dry cloth.
    • Avoid sharp objects and hard impacts as the lacquer may crack.
    • Always use coasters to protect against heat and moisture.
    • Do not place the table in direct sunlight or near radiators.

    • Storage of extension leaves: Ensure they are stored at room temperature and also exposed to sunlight to avoid warping and color changes. In case of cracks or damage to the lacquer, it is recommended to contact a professional, as lacquer surfaces are difficult to repair on your own.
  • If you have a scratch on the surface of your white-pigmented oiled table, you can proceed in two ways.

    OPTION 1: SAND IT AWAY
Start by sanding down the entire table. Then oil the entire table with white-pigmented oil.

    OPTION 2: USE WOOD FILLER
Another option is to use wood filler that can be applied where the damage occurred. Leather Master has repair kits, but you can also check with the paint store if they have any repair kits.
  • In case of damage that has penetrated the lacquer, we recommend contacting a furniture carpenter. The table cannot be sanded if it is veneered.

  • Wood is a living material and sensitive to moisture, regardless of surface treatment.

    • Spills should always be wiped up immediately.

    • Avoid leaving moisture under tablecloths, placemats, or coasters.

    • Regular treatment with colorless furniture oil or recommended surface treatment for each table type reduces the risk of damage.
    1. The freezing method: Place an ice cube in a plastic bag and hold it against the wax. Once it has solidified, gently try to lift it off with a plastic card.

    2. Heat method: Place a paper towel over the wax and gently heat with an iron until it is absorbed.

    3. Solvent: If the stain does not come off, test a small amount of white spirit on a cloth. Be careful as it may affect the surface treatment.
    • Vacuum or brush regularly to remove dirt.

    • Impregnate the fabric to reduce the risk of stains.

    • Use a damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary.

    • Keep in mind that some fabrics naturally pill and may need to be treated with a lint remover.
    • Vacuum carefully with a soft brush.

    • Use a roller or clothes brush to remove dust.

    • If the velvet has pressure marks, a steamer or the steam from an iron can help smooth out the surface.

    • For stains, use a lightly dampened cloth with lukewarm water.

Note: Stain removers can affect the color and texture of velvet. Always test on a hidden area first.

  • Yes, we recommend that you regularly check and tighten screws and fittings on your furniture, especially during seasonal changes. Wood is a living material that is affected by changes in temperature and humidity, which can cause screws and fittings to loosen slightly over time.

  • Marble and travertine slabs are very sensitive to stress and should always be handled with great care to avoid damage or breakage.

When moving, it is important to always carry the slab in a vertical position. Transporting it lying down increases the risk of it cracking under its own weight.
